The Silent Soldier - Leybourne

The Royal British Legion (RBL) has announced it will be supporting the Silent Solider campaign in honour of British troops who fought and died in the First World War, 100 years ago.

Near life-size silhouettes of a First World War ‘Tommy’ will be fixed on buildings, gardens, fields, and roundabouts across the country, in remembrance of those in the armed forces who came home ‘silently’ from the war, as well as those who never made it home.

Leybourne Parish Council signed up to the Silent Soldier Campaign and thanks Sarah Hohler KCC Member for Leybourne (Malling North) for funding the silhouette from her Members Fund.

The Leybourne Silent Soldier has been delivered and has been placed at the Parish Council’s Wreath Fence which is adjacent to the Parish Council War Memorial.

A dedication and blessing will take place following the 10am Parish Eucharist Service on Sunday 26 August 2018.
