About the Choir
Leybourne Church Choir and Music Group serve to glorify God through music where their primary role is to support and enhance the congregational singing.
The Choir sings every Sunday at the 10am Service and the Music Group usually plays at two services per month. We sing a variety of hymns, worship songs and anthems and practice in Church on a Sunday morning at 9.00am, prior to the service.
Younger choristers can work through the RSCM Voice for Life Medallion scheme and be taught to read music. These teaching sessions are held fortnightly on a Monday evening in Church from 6.30 -7.30 p.m. during school term time. Currently children are working for the Light Blue Medallion Award. New children can join at any time – next sessions start on September 10th 2018.
The Choir also takes part at major services in the Church Year, weddings and carol services. In the past they have also sung at the Friends of Leybourne Church “Songs of Praise” Services.
They also take part in the Battle of Britain Service at Capel-le-Ferne in July where they help lead the singing with the RAF Band.
We have an all age choir and young members can start from the age of seven. The younger members receive a fee of £1 per rehearsal, £1 per service and £4 for a wedding. The fees are paid to members at the end of each term.
